Appointments

In order to minimize waiting time for you, all visits are by appointment. We do our best to accommodate those in need of same-day appointments. Sickest patients have highest priority. Routine follow-up visits can be made at any time. If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify our office at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time so that another patient might utilize that time.

Phone Calls

Our receptionists will gather your information and leave a correspondence with your physician’s nurse who will return your phone call as soon as possible. Calls for routine follow-up appointments and non-urgent information will usually be returned within 24-48 business hours. Since our nurses are often busy assisting our physician with patient care or on the phone with other patients, it is more efficient for our receptionists to take your message and have one of our nurses call you back as soon as possible. The office functions with a timely and efficient message system, so it is not necessary to make repeat phone calls to the office during the course of a day. Calls made after 3 p.m. may not be returned until the following day.

Prescription Refills

Prescription refills are done at time of visit. We ask that you bring your medications with you. If you need a refill before your visit, please contact your pharmacy within 2 weeks and have them send us a refill request.  Refills for certain restricted medications cannot be transmitted electronically or called in to your pharmacy and must be printed and physically signed by your physician. These prescriptions must be picked up at your clinic and taken to your pharmacy. Refills will not be honored without periodic follow-up appointments. Medications may cause side effects i.e. kidney, liver function which requires routine monitoring.

Referrals

  • Referrals may require a visit with your primary care physician first. Requests for follow-up visits to the specialist may sometimes be handled with a phone call. Please allow at least two business days to process referrals.

Billing and Insurance

You are financially responsible for all the medical care provided to you. If you have insurance, we will file your insurance claim for you. However, you must bring your insurance card with you in order for us to file your claim. Any charges not covered by your insurance plan are your responsibility. Any deductibles and co-pays are due at the time of service.

It is important to remember that your insurance contract is between you and your insurance company. If your insurance plan changes at any point, it is your responsibility to notify us in a timely manner to avoid any delays in payment. If you do not have insurance, payment in full for all services provided is due at the time of service.

You will receive a monthly billing statement from our office detailing any outstanding balances. We expect payment in full in a timely manner. Payment can be made in any of the following ways:

If you have financial problems that result in a payment delay, please contact us. We won’t know you are having problems unless you tell us. We will make every effort to work out an acceptable payment plan to enable you to take care of your obligation. If all efforts fail, formal collection efforts may be necessary.

If you have questions or concerns about the billing process, please do not hesitate to call our office.

TurnerCare accepts most insurances, however please verify before appointment is made.

Emergencies

When calling our office, please use the term “EMERGENCY” only for conditions requiring immediate treatment, e.g. chest pain, seizure, uncontrolled bleeding, obstructed or difficulty breathing, poisoning. When possible, please call before coming to the office with an emergency situation to ensure you receive the attention you need upon arrival. At times, we may need to transfer you to another specialist for care or suggest emergency room visit. If you believe you have life-threatening illness or injury, always CALL 911 immediately.

Medical Records & Privacy

Your medical records are confidential. Protecting patient privacy is important to us. We will maintain safeguards to protect our patient’s information. Upon your first visit, you will receive a copy of our Patient Notice/Privacy Policy. You can also access it via the link below.

Verbal requests for the release of medical records cannot be honored. Anyone requesting release of medical records must complete the Medical Records Release for below. A legal guardian will be required to sign the Medical Release Form when the patient is a minor. Upon reaching 18 years of age, the patient is required to sign the Medical Release form.

Office needs to be aware of any changes, i.e. phone number, address, insurance information, etc.
